No pictures right now. Two reasons…one is that my computer isn’t working, so I have to use the kids’ computer – it has no card reader. Any why is the card reader important? The dog chewed the transfer cable for the camera. Need to buy another one! LOL. I’m making decent progress on the sunflowers, further along than I thought I was, when comparing to the last picture I posted. So, when I finally post a progress picture again, you’ll all be very surprised! (And by “you” I mean all 2 of you, bahahahahaha)

Yes, I’m a slacker. It’s been THAT long since I posted last?? I’ve stitched a bit! I stitched a name sampler (which I recently noticed I forgot to add the date of birth!), a small one of the Irish State Coach (was an uber stitch-geek and took a small project with me to Great Adventure to stitch on while waiting for the boys to work their way thru the lines) and a small autumn tree scene (again, a small one to take to sports practices – finished in a week!). So, while ultimately, I am a one at a time stitcher, I did like having these small projects to dabble in while working on these blasted sunflowers. I’m trying to push hard on it, I NEED to finish it. What I need is a new project to get excited about!! Anyway, here is my progress on the sunflowers:

Just in case you couldn’t tell….Mine is the stained glass window in the center…it’s hard to find under all the other fluff! All nice work, wonderful knitting….just not sure their choice of how to display things was the best way to go!

FLower is done, leaf/stem almost done. And I’ve started the leaf/stem of the next flower.

And now this will rest for a month or so. My baby name sampler has arrived and I’ll start working on that! I’ll take a picture of that kit tonight and try to remember to post it.

HDF Needlework Exhibition

Yesterday my stitching group went to a needlework exhibition. Long drive! But worth it. It was a very nice day. We went straight to the exhibit, lol, but we were all hungry! Maybe next year we’ll eat first! Anyway, lots of good deals and amazing stitching! The 9/11 quilts were there too. Very moving to see them.

Each of the stars has a stitched quilt block in it representing each state along with the year they became part of the union.

The other thing we got to do was dye some fabric! or floss, but I only brought fabric with me. I did an orange one and a green one. Neither turned out as dark as I’d like, but they are still pretty interesting!

Do you know what is really funny? Those two pictures were taken in the exact same location, right after each other, no lighting changes. One makes my off white rug look blue, the other makes it look pink!

I’m kinda bummed that I didn’t keep track of my weeks. And I bet if I went back and looked, I could figure out how many weeks, but that feels like too much work. So, for now…this picture is just….NEXT! I like it better in pictures than in real life. Not to say I dont’ like it in real life, I do, it’s just blotchy right now. But when I look at the picture, I see the whole, if that makes any sense at all.

AND I’ve participated in an exchange on one of my boards. It was a fun one, Kit a Freebie. It was also my first exchange, so I was a wee bit tense choosing the chart, then the fabric and floss. I changed my mind a couple times. But finally decided on a pumpkin band sampler from this site: http://www.createanddecorate.com/downloads/ it has different types of crafts, but several cross stitch ones. So, this is what I sent:

And it is a striking piece! It;s large and beautiful! I did a great job with the framing choices, lol, no modesty involved here! Tell me what you think!

And I’ve been working on the Maia sunflowers…Coco Brazille. It’s pretty, but the blending filament is a PITA!

I saw this a few years ago and fell in love with it. It’s called Coco Brazile by Maia. I like sunflowers, but the jolly bright yellow drives me batty sometimes. Too cartoony in cross stitch, I feel. I love the browns and yellows in this! I just opened the package and it seems a bit challenging…but we’ll muddle through!

Tree of Me

Another quickie! After taking a long time on the house, it is fun to stitch up a quickie. This one is called Tree of Me. It’s a completely customizeable piece. It comes with 75 medallions to choose from. You pick the 6 that most represent you, then you pick the birdhouse that represents the season you like the most. The hearts can represent whatever you like. And then you can customize a pet.

So, as you can see, there are wedding rings, I put the date of 1997 on them, as that is the year I got married. I chose these other medallions: a dog, cross stitch, 4 leaf clover (for the Irish in me), a reindeer (love Christmas and reindeer) and I made my own little book. Not sure about it though…what do you think? Then, they give you a generic dog and say “go ahead and pick a color for it”. And if you know me, lol, you know this freaks me out. Shouldn’t I be following the pattern?!?!!?!? Anyway, I gave it a shot. I drew him out on graph paper (their pattern) and laid out the colors for our new pup. Tam is black/white/tan (and a wee bit sable on the ears, but too hard to color that! So I stuck with black on the ears).
